Capacity Building for Students
In 2023, as part of the BYLC Development Sector Career Bootcamp, our team launched the Capacity Building for Students project to revolutionize education for students from class 3 to 12 in Bangladesh. We targeted key regions including Pabna, Rajshahi, and Dhaka, focusing on improving low reading proficiency (36%) and bridging the gap between classroom learning and real-world application.
Our goal was to empower students and teachers by introducing edutainment, a blend of education and entertainment. Through interactive activities and relatable content, we created engaging learning environments that improved student retention and made education enjoyable.
Challenges included teacher resistance to new methods and the logistical difficulty of in-person sessions. We addressed this by moving sessions online and conducting open discussions to show the benefits of edutainment.
The project transformed disengaged learning environments into spaces of active participation. Mental health support became a core focus, helping students cope with academic pressures. This project reinforced the value of collaboration and innovation in education, demonstrating a scalable model that can enhance both academic and emotional development for students.
